"Come y bebe, which literally translates as eat and drink, is an Ecuadorian tropical fruit salad made with fruits including papaya, bananas, pineapple and orange juice, the fruit is cut in small pieces and usually has a good amount of orange juice so that you can actually drink it. This is a very refreshing drink or dessert for the summer.

The most basic –and traditional – come y bebe that I’ve had consisted of just papaya, bananas and orange juice. I add the pineapple because that’s the way my mom made it and also because I love that combination of smooth papaya, sweet banana and crunchy tartness of the pineapple. You can also add other types of fruit if you like, mangos are a good option. "To make this you want to cut the fruit into small, uniform, pieces before adding to the orange juice. There are several ways to make this recipe. The base is always orange juice. Papaya and pineapple seem to also be the standard, from there a few other fruits seemed pretty universally used. So I used them. Watermelon? yes, please! Other additions I saw frequently were fresh coconut, apples, cantaloupe, orange segments, grapes, and really just about any other fruits and berries you like. When chopping watermelon, it usually releases a lot of liquid, make sure and save it to add with the orange juice. You can even use some extra and crush it up to add to the orange juice."

"Make sure you cut the fruit very small. You should be able to just slurp up the fruit as you drink. A spoon is not necessary.
If the fruit is ripe and sweet, no additional sweetener is needed.
This should last about 3 days in the refrigerator, but watermelon turns sour rather quickly. If you would like it to last longer, sub another fruit for the watermelon like mango, peaches or nectarines. I would also omit the banana if you want to keep it longer."

MĂ€ngd: 11 st 30 cl glas
Ingredienser:
10 rumsvarma apelsiner (9 dl saft)
1 ananas (~ 870 g) (~ 440 g efterÄt)
1 stor papaya (~ 780 g) (~ 520 g efterÄt)
6 bananer (~ 810 g) (~ 510 g efterÄt)
Instruktioner:
Rulla apelsin fram och tillbaka. Dela och pressa ur saft i skÄl. SkÀr bort toppen pÄ ananas. Skala. SkÀr i 1/2-1 cm bitar. Skala papaya. KÀrna ur. SkÀr i 1/2-1 cm bitar. Skala banan. SkÀr i 1/2-1 cm bitar. Blanda ananas, papaya och banan i apelsinsaften. Kyl i 30 minuter. Servera kallt.
Förvaring: Förvara i kyl.
