Ocholoni Shai

28 maj Ă€r Etiopiens nationaldag! đŸ‡ȘđŸ‡č Dagens recept Ă€r Ocholoni Shai! Ocholoni Shai/Ye'lewuz Shai/Lawlz Shay/LowzShay Ă€r jordnötssmörste.
Ocholoni (ኊ቟ሎኒ) Ă€r jordnöt och shai (ሻይ) Ă€r te pĂ„ amhariska (Ethiopian Food).

Emylogues beskriver:
"This tea is like a thick milk-tea with a strong peanut flavor. If I were to describe it, I would probably call it chunky peanut butter tea blend. It is delicious! I would kill to have this every day!"

Wanderings and wonderings skriver:
"LowzShay- Peanut Butter Tea

Yes. You read that correctly. There is a tea with peanut butter in it that tastes exactly as you would imagine. Like melted peanut butter with tea. It is one of the most delicious concoctions ever invented and I don’t understand why Starbucks has not picked up on this yet."

Andy & Tara's World sÀger:
"Many cafes had something on the menu called peanut tea, so I ordered it. This was when we first learned that 'tea' in Ethiopia just means that it is hot and isn't coffee. Peanut tea is just peanut butter and hot water blended together, which you then sugar to taste. In my case, a lot of sugar. But it is then like drinking liquid peanut butter and a really amazing drink."

Ashley Quarles sÀger:
"Lawlz Shay (pronounced like -Lawse Shy)
The Us needs to jump on this little treat. Peanut butter tea O.O
Some places have it in country, some places don't. But its definitely worth finding & trying if you can. I've had really good Lawlz Shay & really bad lawlz shay."

Te?
Verkar som te inte Àr obligatoriskt.
Natura D'Oriente sÀger grönt te Àr bÀst men rooibos Àr annat alternativ.

"Tea – Herbal, nothing fruity, and green tea probably wouldn’t taste very good either. Can’t give you a brand because the kind they use here isn’t available in the states. Find one you like, experiment!" (Birdy Bird's Bloggy Blog)

Jordnötssmör
"You can use chunky if you like, but keep in mind you’re going to be drinkin’ the stuff"(Birdy Bird's Bloggy Blog)

Walking Through Lavender Fields skriver:
"Use peanut butter that is made with deeply roasted peanuts for the best result. [...]
The recipe works with smooth and crunchy peanut butter."

Tips
"The water has to be very very hot then you mix it with the peanut butter"

Sötning
Walking Through Lavender Fields skriver:
"We asked for their vegan dessert options after finishing our main course. The waiter suggested peanut tea which was not completely vegan since it was sweetened with honey. I was still slowly transitioning to being completely vegan at that time and honey was the only exception in my diet, so I ordered it. It arrived steaming hot in a very small cup. As I started drinking it I just couldn’t believe how tasty it was.

I’m sharing my version of Ethiopian peanut tea which is sweetened with medjool dates."

"Can also easily be made vegan by using plant based milk (instead of regular milk) and agave (instead of honey)!" (Ahavabite).

"If you ‘want to overdo it’, add a dollop of cream and a dusting of cocoa to your cup.
Cinnamon is great if you also want to give the drink a spicy touch." (Natura D'Oriente).

Walking Through Lavender Fields tar 220 ml vatten, 100 g jordnötssmör och 2 medjooldadlar, urkÀrnade.

Allt mixas vÀl i en mixer. HÀlls i en liten kastrull. VÀrms och rörs om konstant. Tas bort frÄn plattan. HÀlls i tvÄ smÄ koppar.

Ahavabites recept innehÄller 1 1/2 msk naturellt osötat creamy jordnötssmör, 1.18 dl standardmjölk, 1.18 dl vatten och 2 tsk honung.

Med te

Te görs. Jordnötssmör blandas i lite i taget "until it’s as thick or thin as you like". HĂ€lls i koppar. Sötas enligt smak.

Jag utgick frĂ„n Walking Through Lavender Fields och Ahavabite. Jag valde att mixa med stavmixer istĂ€llet för matberedare.
